3 Weeks Down....

Wow! It's hard to believe that I have been on this journey for 3 weeks now!! I have NEVER written down everything I've eaten for this long! Quite a feat for me. :) I woke up this morning and I SO wanted to be under 210 when I weighed myself. Well, I am 209.6! Yippee!! It's the little things, you know?!

I have made a Word Document of a typical day for me with some tips on snacks, and fiber intake, etc. If anyone would like it I would be more than happy to make sure you get it. Now that I see it is working for me, I would like to encourage everyone to try it. :)

We have been taking the kids with us on our walk/runs. Syd rides her bike and Dustin walks with us. We have noticed a huge difference in Dustin since the first time. He was angry at us for making him go the first time, and therefore it was a very unpleasant experience. I guess we could have given in and not made him go with us again, but we realize the importance of exercise now and so he goes along. He has been doing a great job and he actually runs after Syd on her bike and when Sean and I start running our intervals, he runs alongside Sean. The two of them leave me in the dust! Drives me nuts, but I know someday soon I will be able to keep up.

Gotta run, we are having friends over for a cookout. I am eating a Boca Burger instead of a Bubba burger....will save me about 300 calories and 40 grams of fat. :)

Have a great weekend and happy calorie counting! :)

Happy Wednesday

Well, I made it past my birthday without gaining any weight....actually lost some.....and we went to Moe's for dinner (got me a Homewrecker Streaker) and also to Marble Slab. :) I think I have lost 6 or 7lbs so far.....I noticed that I've lost an inch or so in my waist also.

I have started adding fiber to my diet today. Trying to get at least 35 grams/day. I read that if we take in 35 grams of fiber/day we will 'flush' out 245 calories which adds up to 2.17 lbs lost/month. I figure it can't hurt, right?! :)

Worked out this evening with the family....it really kicked my butt tonight. This is the worse I've felt since I started working out. I wasn't really sluggish, but I was worn out on my runs. I did 1/4 mile intervals for 2.1 miles. I actually had to stop and walk a little of the last interval.....didn't help that it was mostly up hill! Maybe it was due to the fact that I had only had about 1,000 calories today before my workout. I don't know....hopefully I will feel better tomorrow.

For my fiber intake I am having Weight Control Oatmeal for breakfast, Fiber One bar for snack, Nature's Own Double Fiber bread for lunch (two slices is only 100 calories and like 9g of fiber), and a Light English Muffin for snack (has quite a bit of fiber and protein also, can't remember the exact numbers off hand). I think I got 46g of fiber in today. Wow!

Well, I have to go get my beauty sleep......

Jumped another hurdle!!

Well, I jumped another hurdle today. It rained all night long and was still raining this morning. I figured I wouldn't work out due to the fact that part of the trail might be covered with water and, duh! it's raining and in the 50's! :) Ok, I decided to go anyway. I walked 2.1 miles....in the rain, no less!! Yippee for me! And part of the trail was covered, so I got my tennis shoes wet and muddy. Oh my gosh, did you know that they are washable?! LOL And, as Sean said....'you ran in the rain, and you didn't die, did you?' Gotta love him! :)

Had Quaker's Weight Control oatmeal for breakfast and a Lean Cuisine and a salad for lunch. I really like the taste of most of the Lean Cuisine meals and it makes it so easy when counting calories....just grab a box from the freezer, pop it in the microwave and you can't mess up on the calories. :) Easy!

I'm baaacckkk....

Well, it's Monday and I didn't even blog at all this weekend. Where do the weekends go, anyway?! :) We went out to dinner for our birthday's on Saturday night and I still lost weight when I woke up Sunday morning! And, I was really nervous about what to choose....guess I chose correctly. :) I had cedar plank Salmon (wild Atlantic), with grilled asparagus and asiago cheese and leek mashed potatoes. I even had a Cosmopolitan to drink.

I am sure that it helped that I walked/ran 4.2 miles Saturday afternoon. I crossed another hurdle of mine.....while at the walking trail I decided to go another lap (my thinking was 'I'm already here, might as well'. My old thought would have been 'I already did one, why do another?' So, one more hurdle crossed, and I'm sure I have millions to go. I struggled a bit with my eating on Sunday...not sure why, just seemed to have the munchies. It is that time of the month, you know? That's my only excuse.

Still going....

Wow! Can't believe it has been almost 2 weeks! This is actually easier than I thought it would be. I get to the end of the day, add up my calories and realize I'd better eat some more to make it to 1300-1400 calories for the day. :)

I didn't work out today....thought I'd better rest since I worked out Wednesday morning AND Wednesday night (total of 5 miles) and then again on Thursday night (2.1 miles). I have some serious shin splints, so am trying to take it easy and stretch them out. I am going to hit the trail again tomorrow morning and see if I can do 3 more miles.

Sydney had her annual Sequoyah Carnival at school this afternoon/evening. Of course, there was Papa John's pizza, Marble Slab icecream, snow cones, cotton candy, cokes, etc. I didn't eat any of it....I waited til we came home and made my dinner. That is a first for me!! The pizza smelled delicious, and I actually had enough calories left in my day, but I was afraid to get a piece. I'm glad I didn't, because after we got home, my mother in law said she wanted to take us out for Sean and I's birthdays tomorrow night. Soooooo, I get to try this at a restaurant that I have NO idea what the calories are. I guess I'd better do 5 miles tomorrow. :)

I bought myself some more workout clothes, since I can't do laundry fast enough. I am so excited about this journey and I know that by next year this time I am going to look awesome!!!

I'm off to have some light icecream......goodnight!

Still at it....day 10!

I'm back! My boss motivated me last night to go work out this morning. So, I took the kids to school and then stopped at the park near our house. It has a 2.1 mile trail that winds along the lake and has a nice variety of hills (ugh!) and curves to keep up the interest. :) I hate being bored when I walk. The scenery is incredible now, when you get to the top of some of the hills you see the lake and the mountains in the distance. What a beautiful world God has made for us!! I did the first lap walking fast and running up the hills....that will kill ya. LOL Then I decided to push myself harder and when I got to the end of the trail I turned around and went the opposite way for 1/2 mile and turned around and came back. Three miles down!! Whoo hoo! Boy, was I beat when I was done, but it was a great accomplishment for me.

I am still sticking to my 'life change'....I hate to use the term diet. I think it is over rated. I have added a protein shake w/yogurt and flaxseed oil as one of my snacks during the day. That really seems to help and it keeps me feeling full too. I think alot of times we do not get enough protein in our diet and that is hindering our weight loss.

I was so excited yesterday afternoon when I put on my jeans, that had just come out of the dryer, and they weren't tight!! They are ALWAYS tight after washing them! Yippee! I can and am doing this! I am on my way to being a 'skinny chick'....Praise the Lord and thank you Jesus!

Another day down, another pound lost!

Well, I woke up this morning and lost another pound! And, I even had some lite icecream w/chocolate syrup and marshmallows last night. Of course, it was included in my allowed calories, but I think so many times I thought I can't have things like that and still lose weight. Wrong!!

I can't really tell by looking at me, but I have lost 5lbs in a week....I don't think I've ever done that!

Today was a little more difficult, but after adding it all up I was still around 1300 calories for the day. It's weird, I think I'm doing bad, but then the numbers don't lie.

It's so nice having the support of my wonderful husband. The other morning I went to write in my food journal and at the top of the page he had written, 'Great job! Keep up the good work! I love you, Sean'. That made it all worth it to me. :)

Week one down!

I have made it through week 1!! Wow, what an accomplishment for me. I decided that I was going to count calories only and try to stay below 1700 calories per day. I didn't go over 1400!!! I had a friend ask me what 'diet' I was doing and my reply was.....'my own!'. I think that is the only way I can do this.....eating what I want, just not so much of it.

I am going to try to write something every day from here on out....oh, I did lose 4 lbs this week. Yippee!!
